Presidential Debate

So, basically the first presidential debate in Oxford, Mississippi, was pretty unsatisfactory. Neither candidate really made a knockout. And I’d have to say, when it comes down to it, Obama did seem to beat McCain on the topic of economics. However, when the subject switched to foreign policy, McCain seemed much more comfortable. When it came to foreign policy, Obama came off as extremely inexperienced. This is likely the reason why the majority of people are much more comfortable with McCain as commander-in-chief.

I did seem to get the impression that McCain was coming off as a bit hostile in his attacks on Obama. I realize that this was purely for strategic purposes, but it seemed to give him a bad impression. Also, whereas Obama always spoke firmly and looked directly into the camera, McCain hardly ever did.

Overall, I’d have to give the win to Obama. I’d say it’s probably because he came off as the type of person who cares more about the people. Admittedly though, neither candidate ended with flying colors. Probably the only people that changed their minds after the debate were the people that were already going to.
