Group is all here.

Found some Anti-gun sites.
Learned difference between 'gun control' and 'gun prohibition'.
Read about history of how lack of European gun ban affected many.
Looked at pros and cons of gun control.
Jimmy found a good website for above.
Chris watched Jasmine, but is giving second opinions.
Edison is doing something but looks like work so it's ok.
Jasmine is keeping track of everyone and is too nice.
Jimmy has a typed a LOT.
Chris is using search through his phone.
Found out Obama and McCain debated on this subject. GOLDMINE.
Gun control debates usually arrise after a major shooting [Columbine, VA Tech, etc.]
Good points brought up.
Obama [prior-candidacy] was pro gun ban, now anti. Interesting...

Re-stating our issue a bit: including allowing of tighter gun control, but leaning towards total gun prohibition.

Got good work done today!

Obama>McCain

Barack Obama is who i would vote for, if i was eligable to vote. The reasons why would want to choose him for president are his solutions to some issues. The issues that i agree with are his answers to:

Taxes: Obama plans do tax cuts that will benefit many families. These tax cuts will help the middle-class and many small buisnessess. Obama is said that this will affect 95% of Americans. Families that don't make more than $250,000 a year, will not see their taxes increases. Families that make less that $200,000 will see their taxes decrease. Small buisnesess will recieve a 50% tax credit that will help small businesess provide health care for its workers.

Women: I support Obama's plans for women's rights. He plans to fix the health care system for women. Obama supports the fight against HIV and AIDS. I also agree with Obama on reproductive choice. The right to choose wether or not to get an abortion and to prevent unintended pregnancies. Women shouldnt have a baby if they feel they are not ready to have a child.

War in Iraq: Obama and Biden are determined to end the war and bring the troops home. He plans to give the Secretary of Defense and military commanders new missions to help end the war. He also will press Iraq to take the responsibility of it's own country and future and increase the stability of the country. A counter terrorism force will be left in Iraq to help protect American diplomatic and civilian personnel. Obama also plans to work with Iraqi authorties to keep track of potential war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Biden vs. Pailin

The VP debate was started off with Gwen Ifill explaining the rules of the debate and introducing the vice presidential candidates, Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. It was taken place at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. The debate covered many issues, such as foreign policy, the economy, global warming solutions, and the war in Iraq. In the beginning of the debate, both candidates greeted and were kind of off with their answers. Later on in the debate, their responses were more accurate and informative. Pailin focused on the concerns of Americans and being a "Maverick". Biden's responses seemed more informative and gave good counter responses. In my opinion, Biden won the debate and seemed to be more suitable for the position of VP.

Obama FTW

If you didn't get my obvious "foreshadow" from my title "FTW" (for the win), I would vote for Obama. In many cases, I believe he would be a better President than McCain and a WAY WAY WAY better President than the one we call Bush. I vote for Obama because:

Health Care: Obama will make Health Care a more affordable situation. This is better because some Americans do not have money to pay for the Health Care they need. Now the many of the Americans who could not afford the Health Care that needed it, will now have it with a proper vote of Presidential nominee. The many Americans need this because the ones that don't are getting sick and ill and are not getting the proper care.

Abortion: Obama believes that women have the right to decide whether they want to get an abortion or not. And I agree completely on this. I feel like women should get abortions if they are not ready to have a baby or have any other reasons to not have babies. All the decisions should fall completely on the the impregnated female and should not be put on the government or President to decide whether she's "ready" to have a baby or not. And I do agree with Obama's plan on sex education. This sex education will give better insight on young males and females on whether they are or aren't ready for sex and reproduction.

Education: Obama plans to make colleges more affordable. He plans on making a $4,000 tax credit in exchange for Community Service. And he also wants to hire teachers in the English and Math Department and pay them more. Also, Obama plans on rewarding teachers for their awesome teaching (Cummins!!!).

Battle of the VP

The Vice Presidential Debate covered many foreign policy and domestic issues. Palin first greeted Joe Biden and asked him if she could call him Joe. She did pretty well in competing against Biden, but she chose a more unorthodox approach to the debate saying that she might not answer the questions the way people want her to. She mainly targeted her voice directly to the American people. She used the word maverick to describe John McCain a lot. Biden teared up during the debate also while reliving his experience raising two children on his own after his wife got killed in a car accident. Both of them spoke well on the issues.
Obama Vs. McCain

According to CNN's "Dissecting the debate", There was a poll on who won the debate. 51% of the poll voters say Obama took the win, and 38% say that McCain took the win. But neither of them both defended their party as well as they could be. McCain talking about how "Obama is not experienced", Obama talking about how "McCain forgot about the middle class". I felt that neither candidate was clear in their answers to the questions asked. On the first question, referring to the bail-out plan; neither senator answered the question. All they had to say was, "Yes, I will support it, no, there is nothing I will change," or visa versa.

The second article I read was "Candidates clash on Economy and Iraq" from the NY Times. In the first part of the debate, both candidates refused to specify any changes they would make for the economy, such as tax reductions or spending programs. When it came to foreign policy, McCain was intent in showing that Obama was inexperienced, but Obama seemed calm and in control. He also seemed to have his own foreign policy and talked a lot about foreign countries and their leaders. "The debate served as a reminder of just how different these two men would be as president as they appeared for their first extended session together before a huge audience."

http://www.smh.com.au/news/us-election/each-side-claims-victory-in-debate/2008/09/28/1222540246519.html

In this article they said it was unclear who won the debate. They thought he McCain campaign had already released an internet video citing several instances in which Senator Obama had said he agreed with his rival's positions. They said each side claims victory in the debate. The article also said that many people make their decisions not based on the actual debate, but on what happens after the debate.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/27/debate.analysis/index.html

This article claims both candidates landed some "punches" this debate but none of them provided with a knockout answer. Everyone expected John Mccain to have the upper hand, because the event was based on foreign policy. John Mccain almost decided not to go but on Friday made up his mind that he should attend. Still, when given the opportunity, neither candidate offered specifics on the subject as both stuck to their talking points.

the VP debate

The election took place at St. Louis, Missouri on October 2nd. It was pretty boring, but I think it was won by Joe Biden. He seemed to answer the questions better, even though Sarah Palin answered questions when nobody thought she was going to be able to. Joe Biden kept talking towards Mccain but not towards Sarah Palin, which was a smart tactic because it showed he isn't sexist towards women. Sarah Palin seemed to answer every question with her environmental plan. I think she's stupid for not believing in global warming.

barack obama

I would vote for barack obama for a number of various reasons.

1. the economy is horrible. Brack Obama favors a 1,000 dollar tax cut for every working american. I also like the fact that he is charasmatic. I went campaigning for him in reno and saw the cumminator in the casino ( extra credit yeah? ). I believe in global warming, which that idiot sarah palin, although she may be attractive does not. Obama would try to cut down bad emission gases. he would fight for the passage of employee free choice act. Also of course I am raised in a democratic environment. My teacher for american government is an extreme obama supporter. My dad and stepmom are. and at the same time so is my mom. Everyone in california supports obama so of course in the begining that is another reason why I did too. then I looked into his polocies and promises and decided he would be the most prepared candidate to run the USA. he would establish a credit card rating to improve disclosure. but most of all he will get us out of the Iraq war. I think it is the stupiedest war in american history. goes down with the stupiest president. Obama is not an oil hungry idiot and will at least try to clean up the mess we have made. and although taxes will go up so what? When Im older Id be glad to share my money. and at the same time while prices are raising so is minumum wage. so yes, I would vote for Barack Obama.

I'D SAY OH-BA-MAH ALL THE WAY!! CHYEA CHICAS ;D

1. EDUCATION
As a student about to enter adulthood, I feel that Obama's plan to create a new American Opportunity Tax Credit is one of the biggest things that affect me. Also, because I am just about to exit high school and enter college, my supply of cash is pretty low. So his new tax credit can help me by ensuring that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for almost everybody. Also, applying for financial aid seems a lot like a hassle, but Obama wants to allow families to apply by checking a box on their tax forms. This is a lot easy and not cause a lot of trouble for people to look for information and such. By allowing more people to get more money for college, those who cannot afford college but are brilliant can enter the world so we can benefit from it. Also, by supporting english languange learners, their knowledge can be spread to the United States and not only their home country. Another thing he's doing is rewarding accomplished teachers with a salary increase. This can entice them to stay and do what they are doing. Also, they can mentor new teachers so they can shoot to be as good as them.

2. HEALTH CARE
I like Obama's Health care policies because it will decrease the cost of insurance of the same quality of treatment. Often, people would not get health insurance because of the cost, but Obama's plan could support the people. It is important to put your health before the cost because it is not safe. Government-run health care with higher taxes or letting the insurance companies operate without rules are two extremes offered for health care reform. To go against theses extremes, Obama is proposing a plan that can strengthen employer coverage, make insurance companies accountable, and letting the patient have their choice of a doctor. Another plus to this policy is that the cost of the current health insurance can go down by as much as $2,500 per year. This will make the people content because they can go to the doctor for more check-ups and not worry about the costs. This new health care system will be more affordable and accessible for Americans.

3. ENVIRONMENT
With so many environmental concerns nowadays, the next president should definitely be involved with improving the environment. Luckily, Obama has been described as having a "strong record of support for clean air, wetlands protection, and clean energy." As gas prices continue to increase, Obama will provide short-term relief to American families facing pain at the pump. He pledges to cut Green houses emissions 80% below 1990 levels by 2050 by creating a market-based Cap-and-Trade system. Obama also has plans for improving air and water quality through reduced carbon emissions. He is willing create millions of new green jobs that will ensure that 10% of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25% by 2025. In addition to that, he will try to get 1 million plug-in hybrid cars on the road by 2015. To provide short-term relief to American families, Obama will enact a Windfall Profits Tax to provide a $1,000 emergency energy rebate to them. Obama will also tackle climate change to protect species threatened by extinction. Obama obviously seems to be concerned with making our world a better place to live in and that makes him the candidate worthy of become president of the USA.

Obama

Barack Obama

If i could vote in the coming election I would vote for Obama. Here are three reasons why:
1) Taxes: With Obama's tax plan, 95% of all middle class working families will get tax cuts. This will cause the taxes for the richer to increase. It shouldn't affect the rich people much, but it gives the middle class a break that they have worked hard to deserve. The taxes are also cut for senior citizens. With the social security program in question this plan is a relief for the seniors who are living off of just social security. The tax plan also provides an incentive for companies to hire workers. The companies who hire more people will recieve more tax cuts in their company. This also creates a flow of money. Obama also plans to simplify the process. This will let millions of americans file their taxes without an accountant. The senior citizens will mot even need to fill out any tax forms at all. For a middle class citizen, Obama's tax plan makes more sense than McCain's.
2) War in Iraq: The facts state that the war in iraq and other foriegn countries are costing the U.S. about 10 billion dollars a month. This money can be used in so many other areas right here in our own country. With Obama as president, he promises to end the war as soon as possible. His plan says that he will start to remove troops in 1 or 2 brigades a month. Removing most of the troops by 2010. He plans to keep some forces in iraq to fight against terrorism groups and to keep the country from becoming sectarianism. The U.S. troops will work together to protect thier people and help tham reconstruct thier country. Once the country becomes stable, Obama plans to retreat all the troops. Obama was against the war since 2002. He states that the war is,"an occupation of undetermined length, with undetermined costs and undetermined consequences." Obama will help us regain our power and revive the reputation of our country.
3) Education: Education has been a hot topic in the presidential policies. Obama has plans to improve the way the youth learn in the U.S. The facts state that the U.S. is amoung the lowest of the best educated in the world. The lack of education is causing the Americans to lose their jobs to people who are called in from other countries. Obama plans to reform the no child left behind act by changing the way the government tests the ability and knowledge of the students. Obama plans to support high quality schools and close low quality charter schools. He plans to support math and science programs to enrich the minds of all students. A small but important detail in Obama's plan states that he will invest in middle school programs to help students from dropping out of school. These policies will help the youth to become better educated. Obama's education plan serves the students the best.
These are only some of the reasons why I would vote for Obama.

Ocain

As far as winning the debates Obama won all three. McCain showed a lot of weakness, while Obama spoke hey would nod his head and frowned sign of defeat? i dont think so he brought up so very good points in this final debate, even though Obama came out stronger McCain had very important facts that he brought up. McCain said to Obama after he compared McCain to President Bush that, "Senator Obama, I’m not President Bush, if you wanted to run against President Bush, you should’ve run four years ago." Senator Obama seems like he is a muck-raker/sabotager. Something he should have said from the get go. McCaing Also opened up new doors for his campaign when he brought up Obama and his relations with the American hating guy. McCain also has better a tax plan on small-businesses and middle-class families. McCain’s plan features a 25 percent income tax on families earning over $100,000. This tax cut is not only much lower than that of previous years, but also much more beneficial to Americans than Barack Obama’s plan. Obama plans to heavily tax households that earn over $250,000 annually. This income rate lies just within the boundaries of most small-businesses. Obama’s appeals to the lower classes regarding tax relief for 95% of Americans ignore the fact that the fates of low-income families are directly related to that of small businesses. Small businesses receive subcontracts from larger businesses, which in turn produce jobs for lower classes. A heavy tax on these businesses would result in layoffs and much less interest in expansion. As far as the education is a concern Obama "hit it out of the park". Obama says the we should hire new teachers especially in math and english and pay them higher. With this, they will focus more on the students and will help the student be more educated. He also says that if we do have bad teachers they must go. Barrack says that we need to make college more affordable. He says that young college students are having a hard time with going into college because its so expensive. I agree with Obama on this topic because we do need to make college affordable for students. I dont really 100% love Obama but McCain is to old and Palin would make for the wrost president
Honestly I don't like either one of them.
I don't trust that Obama is capable of doing what he says he can.
I don't want to stay in the war like McCain does. Palin doesn't help either.

If I absolutely had to vote, I'd go for Obama.
But I could come up with some reasons for why I would vote for McCain...

1. The running mates. I like Biden because I know that he's been through hard times but he's strong enough to hang on (wife and daughter died in an accident, he was a single parent and made sure he went home to them every night, and he had two aneurysms). Biden has been in the Senate since 1972. If something were to happen to Obama, I would not be scared if Biden took over. Biden ran for president in 1988 and for the current election, so he knows what he's getting to. He's been ready for a long time. McCain has Palin. If Palin were to take over, I'd be scared to death. McCain is old and might get sick from the stress. Palin has been in politics since 1992 (and that was a city council). She hardly stayed at any college for very long, and her Bachelor of Science degree is for communications-journalism. She was a sports reporter, so what is she doing in politics? How serious is she?

2. Obama wants to get out of the war. I believe that we're spending way too much on the war and that it is hurting our economy. We have no business there, we have our own problems now that need to be taken care of. I don't mean to sound selfish, because we should help other countries when they are in need, but we are not doing any good in this war. We were told that it would be over sooner, but it's not over, so I don't trust what's going on. War is simply not a good thing. Whether it has to be done or not, it is not good. The suicide rate among soldiers is rapidly increasing, so of course it's horrible. Why do we still want to send people out there then? Too much money is lost and too many people are dying on both ends. We need to help ourselves before we can help them.

3. McCain is considering drilling Alaska (Palin wants to) and he wants to start making a lot of nuclear power plants right away. Yes, we should stop importing oil, but Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the few untouched (no roads) places and it's something that we should preserve. So many different types of plants and animals live in the refuge, and if we started drilling there we would destroy that habitat. Also, we want to find new ENERGY SOURCES, not new oil. If we get oil from Alaska, we may get cheaper gas, but we're not moving towards clean energy.
As for nuclear power, I'm all for doing something huge right now, but I'm too scared of nuclear power. If something goes wrong, people could get very sick and certain places could become uninhabitable. I'm scared of another Chernobyl. Maybe I'm just scared because I don't understand it, but if something does go horribly wrong, the energy we produce will not have been worth it. Radioactivity is very delicate and dangerous.

I heard that undecided people are idiots :[

I vote for John McCain!

Education: If Senator John McCain won the election he would raise the salary of the teachers. He wanted to support and give opportunities for all children to go to school. He also supported charter schools because it provides competitions. I think is good that he said to make student loans available. The education of children is very important for the American future. Without it, people would be ignorance. I agreed with Senator McCain to fund more on those education programs that would have been reformed. Because it would be meaningless to spend thousands dollars on it and have it not work out. Also Senator McCain wanted to fund for the children with sickness, helping them going to school. He wanted everyone to have a good education.

Economy: Senator Obama said that he wanted to cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans and 98 percent of small businesses. But Senator McCain wanted $200 billion in additional tax breaks to some of the wealthiest corporations in America. By doing that Senator Obama has destroyed all the small businesses. Most of American jobs are in small business. And if he were to increased the taxes, then many people would not be able to purchases the businesses they wanted, just like Joe the plumber. “Fifty percent of small business income taxes are paid by small businesses. That’s 16 million jobs in America.” What Senator McCain doing is good for both big and small businesses. This would create more jobs and the people can be employed again. Besides, Senator McCain have had more experiences during his years as Senator, I think this time he is proposing a good plan.

Health care: it is still one of the main issues that all American citizens concerned. When the economy is going down like this, the health problems is going to be greater than ever. Senator McCain said that we need to have more community health centers, walk-in clinics, physical fitness programs and nutrition programs in schools. I think that is good. He would be providing health care for people who don’t have it. Under his system, Senator McCain will give people money for they family health plan. He will reduce the cost of it. He will give them a $5,000 refundable tax credit. The average cost of a health care insurance plan in America today is $5,800. “I’m going to give them $5,000 to take with them wherever they want to go, and this will give them affordability.”

I will still vote for Senator John McCain.

Obama, because♦

Economy: I agree with his economic plan. He's very centered on the middle class. He believes that stimulating the working class would solve our crisis. Also, he has prioritized the things he would fix first in order of what he feels is most important. McCain said he would do everything simultaneously, which wouldn't work in my opinion. I don't think the US has enough money to handle everything at once. Right now,we need to take steps if we want to efectively improve our economy.

Abortion: I support Obama's being pro-choice. I think that the mother would know what's best for her and should be able to make her own decisions. I also agree with how he's against it if it's will hard the mother's health. This is so no one person could continue to have unprotected sex and resort to aborting every time. To me, that seems most logical. He's also going to have more sex ed. classes to educate people about safe sex and abortions. This will most likely reduce the amount of abortions.

Health Care: I think Obama's idea of making health care affordable a really good idea. A lot of people don't have money right now because of the crisis can't pay for their medical needs. Lowering the price of health care would make it affordable for everybody that needs it. It would also ultimately increase the health of all Americans.

0bama =]

If I could vote for anyone right now I would vote for Obama. Not only would he be making history, being the first man of color to take on the role of presidency, but from where im looking he has the potential to be a good president.
For having a role in the enviornment I like the fact that he wants to work on the pollution in the air and how we as people are going to have to pay for the carbon dioxide we are putting into the air. He wants to conserve energy and help freshen up our air a bit. Which all together is good for everyone. Hopefully by the year 2030 almost thirty percent of our energy will come from renewable resourses. He is also helping people get jobs since he wants more hybrid cars made for us to drive more people have to help make them. McCain supports oil drilling which isnt really okay in my eyes because we as humans would look really selfish. There are other animals and we should leave them be as long as they didnt do anything to us doesnt mean we have to do it to them.!
Barack Obama isnt so strict on abortion issues. Which is good to know Im so sick of the debates and people saying that abortion is to bad. If a person is willin up there kid at least she knows that her baby is going somewhere but then you dont kno if everything is going to be okay with them. If you are that against abortion then you should be more mature with what you are doing and realize that if you dont want a kid then you will be smart when you have that alone time with that special somebody. Who is the president to tell us what we should be doing witho our lives its not going to be his decision in my life. He m0st like d0esnt kn0w what ist like to obe pregnat.
Obama wants to help people out he wants people to be more educated so he wants to fix prices on college. T0 make it m0re aff0rdable s0 you can have the chioce of many colleges and n0t think that you 0nly have 0ne 0pti0n. L0wering prices will m0tivate m0re people t0 try t0 g0.
giving alm0st every0ne have the ability t0 open an0ther d00r t0 life. sch00ls maj0rly need m0re funding.

3 Reasons Why I'm voting for Obama

Taxes:
One of the reasons I would vote for Obama is because of taxes. Obama will provide a tax cut for ninety-five percent for working families. This means that if an American makes less than a quarter a million dollars a year, then thier taxes will not go up. If an American makes two hundred dollars a year, or less, than their taxes will go down. McCain wants to give a three-hundred billion dollar tax cut. Two-hundred of it to the largest corporations and one-hundred billion of it to CEOs. Also under George Bush's tax cuts, 31% of the tax cuts were given to the wealthiest 1% of Americans. McCain said he voted against Bush tax cuts. But under McCain's plan, 58% of tax cuts will go the wealthiest 1%. I want a President that supports tax cuts for the middle-class because most of my family and alot of people in the country are middle-class. For McCain, he lowers taxes for the wealthy Americans which I don't like. Our economy has been bad the last eight years because of George Bush's tax plan. Obama would give three times more from his tax cut to the middle-class than what McCain would give. McCain does not support permanent repeal of the estate tax, a major goal of the taxpayer movement. McCain has told reporters off the record that he would raise taxes if elected President. Whenever Obama would attack McCain in the debates about tax cuts, McCain would talk about tax cut facts that led us to a bad economy, or he would try to talk about something that did not do with tax cuts but with the economy to avoid talking about tax cuts.

Iraq:
I like Obama's plan because his goal is to get soliders out of Iraq. Obama's plan is to give his Secretary of Defense and military commanders a new mission in iraq: ending the war. Instead of making our American soldiers fight, Obama will get our troops our of Iraq and then train the Iraqi security forces to fight against any terrorist and maintain peace in the middle east. Bush spent too much money for our army to fight in iraq. Even Army Chief of Staff General George Casey said that today's army is out of balance and too much money was spended on our military forces. McCain does support Bush about fighting in Iraq. In the media, McCain even said himself many times that he supports Bush's idea of sending troops to Iraq. I would vote Obama because he wants to get troops out of Iraq. Even though Bush and McCain say it is good to send troops in Iraq for peace and to get rid of terrorism, Bush spent too much money for the military and McCain supports his plan. All the money that is going to Iraq could be money to help our economy and impove our country. Another reason why it is a bad idea to send troops to Iraq is because there are alot of casualties and loved ones that die. Obama wants to save money for economy and not for war. Obama in one of the presidential debates said, "..we are currently spending ten billion dollars a month in Iraq when they have a seventy-nine billion dollar surplus.." . Then McCain responds, "We're sending seven-hundred billion dollars a year overseas to countries that don't like us very much. Some of that money ends up in the hands of terrorist organizations..." When I heard McCain say that, I did not like what he said because seven-hundred billion dollars is alot and can be used for our economy and if some of that money ends up in the hands of terrorist organizations, then I don't even know why they sent that money. The terrorist organization could use that money to build nuclear bombs which is dangerous to our country and the rest of the world.

Healthcare:
McCain wants to pay for his healthcare plan by taxing our healthcare benefits for the first time in history like George Bush. McCain also wants to pay his healthcare plan by making cuts in medicare, $882 billion worth. McCain has opposed medicare and voted against protecting medicare forty times. Obama will lower costs for businesses by covering a portion of the catastrophic health costs they pay in return for lower premiums for employees. Obama will pay for his $50-$65 billion health care reform effort by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and retaining the estate tax at its 2009 level. Obama will make sure that the healthcare plan will cover all americans by making it affordable and accessible. Millions of Americans that don't have health insurance, will have health insurance available to them. Also Americans that wait in line to see a doctor will not have to do that anymore. I like Obama's plan because many Americans are suffering from sickness and are dying. Obama wants to improve the country by improving the healthcare. I would vote for Obama because he cares for our country and will change the way people will be treated when they are in need of healthcare.
Well, I’m voting for McCain! Hurraayy!! (Boy, do I feel out of place.) >___>’’

Taxes: First of all, I support John McCain’s tax plan on small-businesses and middle-class families. Obama’s plan will likely result in a 50% tax rate on all small businesses, the largest tax rate faced by this group in years. As a result, millions of Americans would lose their jobs, tax evasion and legal tax avoidance would spike, and businesses that kept the economy in motion would slow to a screeching halt. Obama also plans to take money from higher-income families and make annual tax refunds to low-wage families. This income redistribution may seem nice, but essentially, it takes the hard-earned cash of successful individuals who have spent years of their lives dedicated to their trade and gives it to others who may not even deserve it.

Abortion: I also support John McCain’s stance on abortion and stem cell research. McCain does not support abortion except in cases of rape or incest. He is also against stem cell research and the intentional creation of human embryos for research purposes. Instead, he wants to promote adoption as the first option for women facing crises with pregnancy. As an alternative to fetal stem cell research, he will fund research programs such as amniotic fluid and adult stem cell research. He also supports programs designed to educate young women about abstinence and safe sex, which Obama also supports. I personally believe that the very notion of abortion devalues human life, and that in order for our society to make progress, all of us have to take responsibility for our actions as a people. Regarding stem cell research, I agree with the stance presented on McCain’s website; it states: “The compassion to relieve suffering and to cure deadly disease cannot erode moral and ethical principles.” We cannot simply make lives through science and then take them away to save other people. Who are we to judge who deserves life and who doesn’t?

Energy Plan: Obama and McCain’s plans on energy are relatively similar. And although I like Obama’s idea on alternative energy, I have to wonder where all the money to fund his projects will come from. Well, the obvious answer would be through crazy amounts of taxation. Also, while McCain is intent on offshore drilling to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, Obama seems to be very slowly inching us towards bio-friendly alternatives. He plans to pour billions into that sort of research, which may or may not prove fruitful in the long run. In the meantime, we need to find other alternatives to wean ourselves off of our oil dependence. McCain plans to invest in 100 new power plants, clean coal technology, and wind, hydro, and solar power. He has offered a reward for the first person to make battery technology more affordable, and plans to give a $5,000 tax credit for each customer who buys a zero carbon emission car, thereby encouraging automakers to capitalize on buyer’s incentives.

OBAMA!

I vote for OBAMA!

Because education is so important, I strongly believe that Obama will do an excellent job in fulfilling the needs of students. According to the debate, Obama and Biden have came up with a "Zero to Five" Plan that will help benefit kids who are entering preschool. This is a good start for them. Their ideal is to also support and reward teachers. We all know that ducation is in the need of everyones hands. Obama talked about how he would create better scholarship programs to benefit students more. Currently, our economy isn't going so well & that also effects our edcuation system. It has already limited extracurricular activities which devastate the students. He promises to do his best to increase education budgets and the salaries of teachers. I definitely agree with Obama to help better our education system and you should too!

Another issue that I believe Obama will be a good President is his will to help Americans have healthcare and to be able to afford it despite their earnings. Obama and Biden will help make sure Americans who do not have healthcare, will soon have it at an affordable amount. To add to healthcare/insurance, this will also benefit small business owners to provide for their employees. As of today, there are millions of people who cannot afford health insurance which is a real serious issue. But because of Obama's plans, I'm hoping more Americans will soon be able to afford healthcare and live a better life. Also, prices for medicine are going up, (not to mention grocery) and Obama will do something about it. This issue is important for my future because sooner or later, I will have to start paying for insurance and I'm not looking forward to paying a lot. Once this occurs, I'm hoping it'll be cheap because I know there are more things in life I'd have to be paying for.

Abortion came up during the debate and I agree with Obama's decisions on the topic. McCain looks down on it. Obama "strongly believes in that the state can properly restrict late-term abortions." His plans are definitely on the positive side. Protecting a Women's Right to Choose and Reducing Unintended Pregnancy. Obviously it is up to the female, whether young or old, to have an abortion because they may or may not be ready, or it could simply be an accident and she didn't know about it. & yes, I think education is needed for more information about sex, abortions, and other related topics. This could easily help those to rethink their decision about having a baby so abortions will not occur.

Obama is a better choice

I would vote for Obama because I believe that his views, towards handling the issues our country is dealing with right now, is better than McCain's. His proposals are better, and I like the way he responds to people's questions about dealing with certain issues. I stand for what Obama stand for.

Health care:
Not everyone can afford paying for medical expenses and this is why this issue is important to me.
The majority agree that Barrack Obama's proposal is better. Obama said that he would cut health care costs for families and businesses, and would reduce premiums for most people by as much as $2,500 per family. He would provide affordable and accessible health insurance for every American. Unlike Obama, McCain's plan would make the individuals pay taxes on the health insurance benefits they receive from their employer; he encourage people to go buy insurance on their own. Families have to pay double as well under McCain's proposal ($2,500 for individual; $5000 for families). I think that Obama's plan is better especially on the middle class poeple because it assures better and cheaper price Medicare. Larger companies would be required to provide insurance for the workers. If people were force to buy their own insurance, most likely they wouldn't even bother getting one because they are going to have trouble budgeting their income. Under Obama, people would have less worries to deal with (health care wise). In case of medical emergencies, Obama's plan would be more effective and guaranteed. People would be able to pay and afford it.

Education:
I like the fact how Obama focuses on improving teacher quality. This would affect the system of education in general. Obviously enough, better teachers would build a better foundation on strengthening our country's education. He proposes adding $18 billion a year to the education budget. He also proposes 40,000 college scholarships to encourage undergrads to enter the classroom. It's so hard to get scholarships nowadays, and people not being able to get scholarships[or not being able to pay to go to college], can affect the way our country runs. In order to have a successful society, we need well educated people; and in order to reach that, our country needs better education. If we want our country to stay successful, we need to make sure that our education is strong; we need more funds for public schools and offer more scholarships. Obama just happened to have good ideas on improving the issue better. I personally don't really like how McCain responds to this issue. He supports private schools and believes that most
school-related issues should be handled at the local level. He wants to pay teachers based on merit, and make it easier to recruit teachers from other professions.

Same-sex marriage:
I think that both candidates didn't really pay much of attention in this issue. It is an important issue, yet it is getting ignored and avoided. Obama and McCain both voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, which legally defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman only. Obama opposes same-sex marriage, but he supports full civil unions that gives same-sex couples equal legal rights and privileges as married couples. Civil union is not considered as marriage; it is the states' decision whether to refuse it or recognize gay people to be legally live together. Marriage is still viewed as a bond between a man and a woman. McCain on the other hand, believes that states and local governments should set their own marriage policies. I wasn't satisfied with both of the candidates' proposal in this issue. But, if I have to choose between this two, I think Obama spoke better on this issue better than McCain. Unlike McCain who tried to stay away from this issue as much as possible, Obama said something and actually discussed the issue with the LGBT(Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans gender). Atleast he had something to say and expressed his opinion about it.

I would probably vote for John

Senator John McCain seemed really on fire. He seemed aggressive and outspoken towards Obama, which is really out of character for him. From 19:05-19:11 John McCain said to Obama after he compared McCain to President Bush that, "Senator Obama, I’m not President Bush, if you wanted to run against President Bush, you should’ve run four years ago." Senator Obama seems like he is a muck-raker/sabotager.

Education: Well, I agree with McCain about the school systems, that we shouldn't just throw money at them and expect them to change. Obama said that paying more teachers, and raising salaries as a reward and for their support would do the trick. I would disagree with him because money is not improving the teacher's teaching methods. I agree with McCain that we shouldn't throw money at a problem because it does not make the problem go away. I just wastes the tax-payers money. Even Obama said so himself, that the 'No Child Left Behind Program' didn't improve anything and wasted loads of money. America may be lacking behind in education compared to other countries, and that is why America needs reform in its education system. Funding and reforming at the same time can get very sticky since it is not completely defined. Funding early programs for children does not help in most cases. Because the children maintain the same level that they already are in, if not lower, so why have early funding programs?

Economy: I agree with Senator John McCain that we should become independent when it comes to resources. I believe it is wise to create (nuclear) power plants to create our own source of energy. Not only will our interdependency create more energy and more money but more jobs as well. The main point/reason is to become energy independent: resulting to wind, tide, solar, gas, nuclear, and off-shore drilling. Our country owes trillions of dollars, why are we sending tons of money to countries that don't even like America? Why should we support them when they only spit in our face? Throwing money at them isn't making them like us more any more than they already do.

Home Loans: The home market has evidently been dragged down by unwise decisions of banks. Deciding to loan thousands/millions of dollars to people who would never be able to pay-off those debts, was very foolish of the banks. John believes that the Home Ownership Loan Corp. should pay off the debts of the people. Clinton actually proposed this earlier and that it would increase the values of the homes and bring wealth back into that part of the market. Which it did, and the homing market increased.

I believe McCain won, he was on top of his game. He was assertive in himself and delivered his answers and ending speech beautifully.
I would vote for Barrack Obama because he has a set plan to help fix our nation.

Abortion. Obama says that it is the mothers choice to have an abortion and i do agree with him. I agree with Obama on the ban on late term abortion, but i think that any woman has the right to have an abortion unless it effects the mothers health. Senator McCain does not support abortion, but i don't think that he has the right to make that decision because he doesn't know what its like to be in that position. I do agree with McCain when he says that he is an adoptive parent and he's happy with his adoptive children, but what if their isn't enough parents to adopt a child and these children are stuck in orphan homes. Obama says that he will have more sex education classes on safe sex and abstinence and i believe that will be a smart decision.

Health Care. Obama says that he would make health care cheaper so that it will be easier for people to afford it. He would create small business health tax credit so that small business owners can provide care to their employees. He would negotiate with drug companies to get the drugs cheaper. Also he would put more money on preventive care like diabetes and heart disease because these things can be prevented.

Education.

My decision

Senator Obama wins my vote over Senator McCain.

Health care:
Obama struck in this issue against McCain. Health care is a issue that we struggle in the U.S. Obama is that he would make a change for health care for us to afford. Affordable health care would help everyone in the whole United States, it would change peoples life that can not afford it. Obama said in the debate that "If you have a health insurance, you don't need to do anything. You can keep the choice of the doctor you want, keep your health insurance, and keep your plan." Obama wants to lower health insurance in order to keep people healthy across the country. For that he has a plan for this to help them, cut average families premium to $2500 per year. It builds on the existing health care system and uses the existing providers. Lower health care equals helping people lives. It would be beneficial and affordable to those in need. For this topic Obama wins the issue of health care.

Abortion:
Obama is for abortion but wants to ban late term abortion. Obama stated that although abortion is a very sad thing, it is ultimately the mother's decision to keep or abort the baby. It is right for women to have there right of choice in having an abortion. There is no point of banning abortion if it is not your baby and wouldn't be your choice. For reducing this promblems he wants to have more educated programs on safe sex and abstinence for the youth and, who is is need of help. Which that is the right thing to have out there. Having all these programs would reduce all the abortions and pregnancies. All this is for change to better peoples problems. With Obama building the clinics it is gonna better everyone. I would say that Obama wins this part of the debate.

Education:
Colleges have been expensive and not affordable. Many students don't have the right amount of money to get in the college that they want to get in. For this Obama wants to make colleges affordable. I would agree with Obama to make colleges to be more afforable. Me and my family has an issue with money and have barley enough to get in SDSU. So reducing prices would help all kids that want to go to college. Obama has a good idea $4000 tax credit for college education in exchange for community service. With that plan there would be a program to better teachers in teaching there students. Teachers will be rewarded for their accomplishments. For this Obama once wins this issue.

My Vote

I've decided to start with a clean slate and dive into this unbiased. I have a bunch of charts in front of me right now and I will evaluate three issues that are most relevant to me. Sorry for kind of ripping you off, Gardner.

Enviromental Issues:

Both McCain and Obama have similar stands on reducing greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Both propose a cap-and-trade program that would reduce gas emissions to 1990 levels. Personally, I like what both candidates have to say and both bring different things to the table. Obama states that he will fund mass public transportation and encourage restoration such as planting trees, restoring grasslands, and undertake farming. He plans to also reduce carbon emissions so that air and water quality can be improved, which is something that affects dense populations like here in the bay Area [though we're doing a pretty good job compared to large cities]. Also, renewable energy sources will make up 30 percent of the federal government's electricity, by 2020. On McCain's side, he proposes to sell clean energy through United Nation partnerships to developing countries, and work with large population-dense countries such as India and China [with China being a large coal-fueled country]. He also proposes incentives to automobile companies for producing clean cars, complying to standards, developing clean car batteries, and the like. Also, he has opposed Arctic drilling which could ruin the refuge that is in the proposed drilling area. It is a difficult decision, since both are equally as appealin, but I'll have to go with Obama's actions on this one, especially with the active solutions with the people involved with saving the enviroment.

Abortion:

I am with Obama on this one, no contest. McCain believes the controversial case of roe vs. wade should be overturned and the debate returned to the states. Obama agrees with the verdict in Roe vs. Wade. As a recap, the case of Roe vs. Wade produced the ruling that abortion is legal to the point where the fetus is 'viable'. According to the ruling, 'viable' means that the fetus is able to survive outside of the mother's womb even if aid is required. This seems like a pretty good and even proposal, since a mother can have her right to have an abortion if she wants to. I believe that it is up to the mother's decision on how to handle her own pregnancy, whether it was willing or unwilling. Obama also encourages increased programs for youth that deal with abstinance, safe sex, and such. I believe there is not nearly enough of that taught in schools, or enough encouragement towards it. I agree with Obama on this issue.

Same-sex marriage:

Hmm, both candidates opposed the Federal Marriage amendment. The amendment states that marriage is exclusive to one man and one woman, and it also bans extention of the amendment to same-sex or unmarried couples, as well as banning polygamy. McCain voted against it stating individual states should have the right to decide on that issue. Obama believes that marriage is a religious bond between a man and a woman. However, he supports the idea of a union between a homosexual couple, without stating it as marriage but like marriage in most ways. He also believes that the decision whether to call it marriage should be left to the states to decide. I'm not quite sure what side to choose here, since both are similar arguments. To be completely honest, I agree and yet disagree with both candidates. To me, there is not nearly enough to convince me to sway for either. I leave my vote on this issue undecided.

2 votes for Obama, 1 undecided.

Hm, maybe I am biased.
I would vote for Obama because he has a clear plan on how to improve or solve several issues important to me.

Energy and the Environment: He is going to provide short-term relief to Americans facing pain at the pump. Help create five million new jobs by investing $150 billion to build clean energy. Plans to put 1 million Plug In Hybrid cars that on the road. These cars would be built in America which helps create jobs. He plans to make certain 25 percent of our energy is renewable by the year 2025. Promises to reduce green house emissions by 80percent by the year 2050. Develop a global program by working with UNFCC on climate change. Prioritize the construction of the Alaska pipeline.

Healthcare: Require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. Create Small Business Health Tax Credit so small business owners can provide care to employees. Establish a national Heath Insurance Exchange to help individuals and small business owners to buy affordable health coverage. Lower drug costs by allowing importation of medicines from other countries. Reform insurance market to create competition by reducing anticompetitvity.

Taxes: Reduce taxes for 95 percent of workers of about $500 and $1000 for married couples. Provide tax cuts for uninsured and homeowners. Provide tax credits to reduce the cost of healthcare. Simplify the tax process. Middle class families will see tax cuts and families making over 250,000 will not see and increase. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan. No family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s.

And my vote goes to...

no one, at least not yet. I've decided to talk myself through three major issues and see which candidate I like more by the end.

Foreign policy:

Just to start out, I would like to say that John McCain terrifies me on this issue. Obama does too, but for entirely different and slightly less serious reasons. John McCain’s position on foreign policy is that he has far more experience than Obama, but what kind of experience is he talking about? After reading through pages and pages of quotes from McCain, he comes off as overly aggressive and dismissive of other countries around the world. This attitude may have worked back when McCain was young (circa 1850) but it’s pointlessly patriotic in a swiftly globalizing world. Obama, on the other hand, is simply pandering to the international community and those in the United States that see America as morally obligated to pour money on the world’s wounds. His plans to meet with leaders of hostile states without pre-conditions might be idealistically sound, but it’s realistically unreasonable. Despite what Obama says, not holding talks with other nations can be used as a bargaining tool, although this does not apply in all situations. Of the two candidates I can only say I dislike McCain more because he’s said more to dislike, I’m sure that if you gave Obama a mic and a few years, we would have plenty more material to fuel the debate. On the Iraq war, McCain too enthusiastic, Obama too timid and he probably wouldn’t even be able to get us out.

Verdict: slight + to Obama

The Economy:

Obama seems to be disconnected from reality on this one. More spending and bigger government programs, but a huge tax cut for “the middle class.” And how does he propose to finance this fairy tale? A tax increase on the rich. How does he plan to keep them from just leaving to live elsewhere? They’re rich for heaven’s sake. Semi-jokes aside, Obama’s plan for the economy seems to be saying he’s not Bush enough times that it’ll make everything better. On the other hand, McCain fails to stand out as well, easily admitting that he “still needs to be educated” on the economy. On the other hand, he appears to be sane enough to realize that the government is spending way too much. His claims that he’ll veto “pork barrel” spending are heartening, if a bit empty. At least he was smart enough to make an attempt at disassociating himself from the “republicans” and Democrats in congress that spent our tax dollars like baby-boomers in a Vegas casino.

Verdict: slight + McCain

Energy Conservation and Energy Independence:

On this issue it’s really down to if you want America to be energy independent sooner or in a safer manner. Obama and McCain both support similar efforts to make the United States more energy efficient and more environmentally friendly, but McCain supports a wider array of more aggressive programs while Obama tends to focus more on a safer but much slower set of alternatives. McCain supports offshore oil drilling and says it will act as a temporary measure to support the American economy until his plan to build 45 new nuclear power plants is completed by 2030. This might seem like a long way in the future, but if we don’t start at some point nothing will ever get done. Obama instead supports conserving fuel and developing more environmentally friendly habits to work our way slowly out of our oil dependence. I have no problem with being ecologically-minded, but I think that we need to focus more on becoming independent from foreign powers that might seek to control our fuel supply. Why should we spend our time legislating our way to saving the earth through smarter driving when there are much more efficient ways to preserve our planet? Another facet of this issue that interests me is the alternative fuel that each candidate supports. As far as I’ve been able to tell, Obama is heavily in support of ethanol while McCain supports a variety of different sources, from wind to nuclear to clean coal. As much as I dislike the idea of funneling money into the big oil companies, I think that I could easily dislike Big-Corn just as much; ethanol seems like just another gimmick for the large corporations.

Verdict: Slightly larger + to McCain

Final Verdict: I would have to say that I would vote for McCain, not because he’s the best person for the job but because he’s a better than Obama (though not by much). The lack of a candidate who supports my views in a decisive manner is very disheartening during this time of crisis for America.

I would like to close by posting a brief summary of my views of both candidates.

McCain

Obama

My Vote.

I would vote for Obama, because i agree and support his plans for our country. Obama says his plan is to invest in the American people. The policies he wants to bring into the white house and what he fought for his whole life were, tax cuts for middle class, health care for all Americans, colleges for all young people who wants to go, and more.

ABORTION:
I agree on Obama's decisions on abortion, because any female should have the right to get one if they wanted to. Obama supports a ban on late term abortion as long as the mother has health and life. I agree that it's the mother's decision on whether she wants to have an abortion or not. The mother of that infant is capable of making their own judgment. Obama says we should have more educated programs on safe sex and abstinence for the youth or whoever. I agree with that decision, because it can probably lower the chances of pregnancies and of getting an abortion. Not like Obama, Mccain doesn't support abortion.

EDUCATION:
Obama says he wants to make colleges affordable. There are a lot of kids who want to go to college, but sometimes don't have enough money to get in. I agree with Obama in lowering the prices for kids, so that they can afford to get into a college that they choose to go to. Obama says he would recruit a whole new of teachers and put them in a training program, so they will be ready to teach well for students. If these teachers do a good job in teaching they would be rewarded for what they've done. He also wanted to make science and math education a national priority. I think Obama's new plan on education would benefit people if he becomes president. His plan considers from early education to higher education. I support Obama's education plan and think his ideas are good.

HEALTH CARE:
I think Obama's plan for health care is reasonable. I would want a health care that is affordable and would benefit everyone. Some people don't have enough money to keep up with the prices of health care. Barack Obama said 2 women somewhere in their 50s were just laid off and neither of them had health insurance. Those 2 women were worried about the price in health care and if they become sick, it might make them bankrupt. Obama says, "If you have a health insurance, you don't need to do anything. You can keep the choice of the doctor you want, keep your health insurance, and keep your plan." Senator Obama wants to lower the costs of health care. His plan is to also cut average families premium to $2500 per year. In Obama's plan, he said he wants to put more money in prevented care also. I think his health care plan is beneficial and would be good.

I vote Obama because...

1. Health care- I want someone that would provide affordable and accessible health care for everyone. Barack Obama's plan allows this. It builds on the existing health care system and uses the existing providers. People will be able to make health care decisions with their doctors instead of the insurance companies. One will be able to keep their current health care plan and nothing changes. The costs would just go down by as much as $2,500 per year. If one does not have any health insurance, there are many affordable new choices in Obama's plan. Overall this plan will strengthen employer coverage. It makes insurance companies responsible for there actions. Patients will be able to choose a doctor without any interference. This is why I like his health care plan.

2. Taxes- I want someone that will provide tax relief for Americans. Barack Obama's plan allows this. The plan would cut taxes for 95% of workers. There will be tax cuts for low income seniors and families sending a child to college. He will assure middle class families will not see their taxes raised. No families making less than $250,000 will have increased taxes. Families that make more than $250,000 will pay the same or lower tax rates. Overall Obama's plan will cut taxes. Small businesses will benefit from this tax plan. People will be able to save and gain wealth. I am very happy with his tax policy.

3. Education- I want someone that will invest for the future. Barack Obama's education plan is great. I like his $4000 tax credit for college education in exchange for community service. He will make it easier for families to afford to send their kids to college. He wants to prioritize in making math and science important. Teachers will benefit from this plan a lot. There will be better trained teachers with this plan. Teachers will be rewarded for their accomplishments. This might make me want to become a teacher someday. More funds need to go to education and hopefully this plan will work. Without investing in education, our future will not be so good.

My Vote For Obama

After watching the 3 presidential debates of 2008, i have decided that i support Senator Barrack Obama and his ideas for this country.
Financial Crisis
The opening question of the debate was based on the growing financial crisis of the economy. McCain came up with only one solution to the problem, while Obama had 4. Obama proposed a rescue package that is targeted towards the middle class. This package includes more jobs, immediate aid for families, lower mortgages for home owners, and more efficient energy, health, and education policies. Obama proposed tax cuts for businesses who find labor in the U.S. and increase taxes for labor in foreign countries. This will increase the employment rate of Americans greatly, which will help the economy. The tax breaks for middle class families will help those struggling financially to buy food, save money to send their children to college, and allow them to keep thier homes. Another topic covered in the debate was about Joe the plumber and the opening of his small business. McCain supports Joe the Plumber and his idea to open the business and does not want to raise taxes on him. Obama says that he also supports Joe the plumber, but does not believe that the tax cuts should apply to him, but the middle class. Obama plans to cut 95% of taxes from the working Americans. I think that Obama has a better solution, because i feel that the middle class is more in need of the tax break over the businesses.
The Budget
During the debate, both candidate's budgets were questioned, because both were said to have put the country in even more debt. The deficit of the nation is said to be 455 billion dollars. And both candidates have yet to cut unnecessary or ineffective programs from the budget. The estimated debt of the candidates are said to put the country back by another 300 billion dollars. Both candidates stated that they would cut some programs, but failed to mention which ones. I think that the statement that caught my attention was Obama's accusation that McCain's term as president would be equivalent to 8 years of Bush's term. McCain replied that he is not President Bush, but I think that their ideas and concepts are similar. Although it is only an accusation, I believe that McCain's proposals to get America out of debt is not as strong as Obama's. Obama offered more of a variety of ways to get out of debt. I felt that Obama's ideas were more dramatic, and I feel that those ideas are what we need to get out of this economic disaster.
Abortion
McCain stated that he is strongly against abortion. He supports the overturning of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision. When asked if he would appoint a judge who believed in abortion, he said that he would not judge them on their personal beliefs and ideas. McCain stated that he would not provide a litmus test for the appointment of the supreme court judge, but also said that someone who supported abortion would not fit the credentials to be a supreme court judge. He basically contradicted himself. Obama supports abortion, but wants a ban on late term abortion. Obama stated that although abortion is a very sad thing, it is ultimately the mother's decision to keep or abort the baby. I strongly agree, because the mother is capable of making her own decisions. I also agree with Obama's suggestions of having adoption clinics and more education programs on safe sex and abstinence. I think that this education will help decrease the number of pregnancies and in turn will decrease the number of abortions.

my vote.

I would vote for Barrack Obama; McCain said, "Take 300 of that billion [from the bailout plan] and go in and buy those home loan mortgages and negotiate with those people in their homes … so that they can afford to pay the mortgage, stay in their home," where Barrack Obama responded with, "It could be a giveaway to banks if we're buying full price for mortgages that now are worth less … we've got some long-term challenges in this economy that have to be dealt with." During the final debate Obama stated McCain voted for four out of five of President Bush's budgets. If McCain was Anti-Bush, then why would he vote for George Bush, thats my question? Im confused of where McCain fits, and what he wants. I think having John McCain would just ruin the economy for the next 8 years.

I agree with Obama when he says, "I occasionally have mistaken your policies for George Bush's policies, it's because on the core economic issues that matter to the American people, on tax policy, on energy policy, on spending priorities, you have been a vigorous supporter of President Bush," because i don't notice anything different between Senator John McCain and current President George Bush, besides their names. I completely agree with Barrack Obama when he also says, " And 100 percent, John, of your ads -- 100 percent of them have been negative," because i have seen Senator McCain's ad's to support him, and they are all negative, then reveal most flaws on Barrack Obama, and not all of the statements on those ads are true.

McCain just went off to another tangent that i don't even understand when he said, "Well, if you'll turn on the television, as I -- I watched the Arizona Cardinals defeat the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday," and Obama replied with ," Congratulations," I thought that Barrack Obama was funny when he said that, I was crackin' up. I don't get what that statement has to do anything with what they're talking about. I also didn't really like when McCain kept interrupting when Obama was talking, its a formal debate, play by the rules. In conclusion, I'd vote for Barrack Obama.

OBAMA vs. McCAIN

It could be just me but i just naturally trust Obama better. McMain seems like a George Bush prodigy even though he tries to separate himself as far as possible. I do believe that obama can change america for the better and i hope that the rest of the people see it also. Im sure that both men have some strong and weak points but it seems like Obama has more strong points than McCain. The biggest factor is McCains running mate. She just seems like a dits to me and i would not want our country in her hands. But again thats just me. Whatever happens we as a country are going to have to back our president up. so,GO OBAMA!!

I'd vote for Barack Obama because...

Jobs
One of the main issues I am concerned with right now is the rising unemployment rates in America. People are losing their jobs left and right and I would want a president with a good plan to get us out of this situation. Obama’s solution to this financial crisis is more job creation. He plans to create an Advanced Manufacturing Fund to identify and invest in the most compelling advanced manufacturing strategies and innovative proposals to create new products and new jobs in the state. He also wants to make the minimum wage a living wage, enough to provide the necessities of everyday life. He would make it so that working full-time means enough to support a family, and not having to work overtime just to get by. Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US. The act would maintain their corporate headquarters in America. It would pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military. In addition to this, he will strengthen unions and workers’ rights. As for those unemployed who cannot find jobs, Obama plans to extend unemployment compensation during the recession. Obama’s plans will hopefully improve America’s economic situation and decrease unemployment rates.

Education
Another issue that directly affects me is education. Obama has a solid plan for education, which considers early education all the way to higher education. For early childhood, Obama wants to establish a Zero to Five Plan to provide support for young children and their parents to prepare them for kindergarten, with the hopes of moving toward a voluntary, universal pre-school system. He also has plans to increase Head Start funding and childcare, to assist busy working parents. For K-12 education, Obama plans to reform the No Child Left Behind Act by improving its accountability system; support high-quality schools and close low-performing charter schools; make math and science education a national priority; pass his legislation to address the drop-out crisis; support English-language learners; and so much more. I am sick and tired of sitting in classrooms with teachers who say two words on the subject and leave the rest of the education for students to learn on their own because they have better things to do than to effectively teach their students. To decrease the amounts of incompetent teachers in our schools, Obama hopes to recruit qualified teachers and put them through training programs so they are ready to really teach. He will also promote new and innovative ways to increase teacher pay and reward accomplished teachers who work to help recruits, teach in undeserved places, and excel in the classroom. For higher education, which is the most important to me right now, Obama will make college more affordable for all Americans by creating a new American Opportunity Tax Credit, which will ensure that the first $4000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans. The AOTC will also cover 2/3 the cost of tuition at the average public college/university and make community college tuition completely free for most students, in return for 100 hours of community service by the student. And for financial aid, Obama will simplify the application process by eliminating the need for a separate application. These plans consider all the ages when it comes to education and will allow for all students to receive a quality, beneficial learning experience.

He pledges to cut greenhouse gas emissions 80% below 1990 levels by 2050 by creating a market-based cap-and-trade system.

Debate between both vice presidents

The debate occurred between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden on October 2nd, 2008. Both sides once again continued to sabotage the other party. Both Sarah and Joe strayed many times from the question and continued to 'correct' each other. Sarah seemed nervous during the beginning of the debate Joe continued to put on a fake smile as Palin described her side. And the moderator seemed to side with Joe as she repeatedly cut off Sarah. I would have more descriptions and specify what was correct or incorrect during the debate, but my views on the debate are one sided with Sarah Palin.

Ooophs

haha! lol ;D

VP Debate Biden VS. Palin

This debate between Governor Palin and Senator Biden took place on October 2, 2008, in St. Louis, Missouri. As i watched this debate, i thought it was boring and that the debate against McCain and Obama was more interesting. In my opinion, i think that Senator Biden did a better job in this debate. Both candidates discussed the middle class and had a lot to say about it. Governor Palin looked nervous and i couldn't really take her seriously as she spoke. Senator Biden shows that he has experience and it seems he can do a better job in being VP. I say in this round, Biden won.

VP Debate

The Vice President Debate between Palin and Biden was taken place on the 2nd of October at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. I must say the VP Debate was better than the Presidential Debate. I believe Biden performed better than Palin and sounded more true to his words about our future plans for this country. As for Palin, her answers were just average to me compared to Biden. I believe she was only trying to sound average to protect herself from Biden's questions and Palin did suprise many people.

Lies and Talking Points Make Everything Better

Once again two politicians managed to speak for an extended period of time without saying anything we hadn't heard before. Palin really won here because she managed to navigate the treacherous waters without ending up looking like a complete fool, which was really her objective here. Biden (who looks really old, by the way) could've shouted until he was red in the face, but expectations for Palin were much lower and thus much more easily lived up to. Kudos to Palin for not coming off as she did in those horrendous interviews, and for the one really clever line of the night "Say it ain't so Joe." (Though the setup was painfully obvious.) Biden did well, but the odds were really stacked against him. He had to perform a delicate balancing act while Palin just had to spew talking points and pronounce nuclear right (oh wait). I really think we should just have them put on some boxing gloves and duke it out.

Biden Vs. Palin VP Debate

The not so interesting debate happened in St. Louis, Missouri on October 2nd of 2008. Vice president candidate for McCain, Palin, got the attention when it comes to her appearance; but when it comes to responding questions, she's a failure. She weakly responded and ignored most of the questions that were asked. She did, however, kept talking about energy; one thing she's familiar at. As for Joseph Biden, he did a great job on the debate. He answered the questions with more insight than Palin. I think it was obvious for most of the people that Biden had a lot more to things say than Palin. I want someone that could handle tasks well and with knowledge. And between these two, I'd say that Biden is more qualified to be the VP of the United States. Obama-Biden for the win.

Vice Presidential face off

The debate between Senator Biden and Governor Palin occurred on Thursday October 2, 2008. The keypoints in the debate were about economic problems, political issues, and foreign policies. Governor Palin seems to have tried her best on answering the questions but she was not as good as Senator Biden. She often switched topis as if she does not know what to say anymore. I think Biden would be better as the Vice-President.

Adding to that... (accidentally pressed publish before)

The debate was pretty informative on the state of the election. Considering Palin's interview record before the debate, she did better than expected, which is still not exceptional. Biden was not particularly notable in what he said, except how he stated that he couldn't really change the way his character was. I don't think the debate will sway any voters to any particular side, though. It either reinforced beliefs like Palin's note card-style debating or Biden's liberalness.

Palin/Biden Debate

Generalizations and unanswered questions yay!

The Palin and Biden debate

The debate was taken on Ocboter 2nd in Missouri. I thought the debate between Palin and Biden was pretty boring. When ever the subject came to Foreign policies, it seemed as if Palin got nervous on the subject and didnt know much about it . She tried to use her Alaskan charm the whole way through the debate. I thought Biden gave good and educated answers on everthing unlike Palin. I dont think Palin should become Vice President.

Vice Presidential Debate

The first vice president debate of the 2008 election was held on October 2. Gwen Ifill was the moderator, a Wealthy Black Women. Its obvious that Palin is the better looking one out of the two. With that said i liked what Biden said, he hit the main issues with facts and i felt Palin just tryed to change the subject every time she got the chance. Biden kept the same tone of voice through the whole time and he seemed very comfortable. Palin put together what seemed to me to be an "act" by using her little cute voice to get people that are listening to think she is innocent i dont buy it. They both did a good job but im pulling for Biden.

Biden, The Hero, Palin for Zero. (=

The election took place at St. Louis, Missouri on October 2nd. The election was okay in the most part. Some parts for me were a little boring and confusing. To me, it felt like Biden won the debate. He stood his ground and answered his questions the way it should have been answered. Both candidates talked alot about the middle class which was one step better for me than the Presidential Debate since the focus on this debate was more around the mainstream.

Palin vs. Biden

The Vice President debate was interesting. For me this debate was more interesting than the Obama vs. McCain debate. Each candidate has so many views on the issues that were talked about. Both VP candidates were on point but Biden hit the hardest. After Fridays debate it was more clear that Biden was for this spot as VP.

Palin vs. Biden

The first vice president debate of the 2008 election was held on October 2, at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. A main factor of the debate was that it was moderated by an
African American woman, Gwen Ifill, of PBS. This was an interesting choice for a moderator, because she could have supported Obama, because he is African American or Palin, because she is a woman. After watching the debate, i thought that the winner was definitely Biden. I thought that he had a lot more background information concerning the topics that came up, including taxes, Iraq, and Dar Fur. I also thought that Palin looked nervous and has a very annoying voice. I do not think that she is capable of being vice president of the United States. Overall, I thought that the debate was interesting. I learned a little bit more about the people who will soon run this country.

VP Debate

I actually found the Vice Presidential debate to be interesting. I enjoyed watching it because I learned more about where each candidate stands on various issues. I liked the fact that it wasn't reporters or analysts telling us their views. Both Biden and Palin were trying to reach out to the middle class. Nothing too exciting happened.

Palin vs. Biden

The vice presidential debate took place at Washington State University in St. Louis and consisted of moderator Gwen Ifill, Governor Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. Myself along with many viewers of the vice presidential debate felt that both participants suprisingly matched up equally. I watched the very beginning of the debate and when they were first introduced it seemed as if both participants wanted to get the handshake over with as soon as possible. Going into the debate news reporters and journalists said Senator Biden would dominate the competition and Governor Palin would just stand there and look pretty. It suprised me that Governor Palin did not live up to the media's expectations, having a whole lot of confidence and speaking with poise matching every topic thrown at her and Senator Biden. The first couple of topics dealt with the economy and were followed by the tax policy. During the subject of tax policies Governor Palin said Senator Barack Obama along with Senator Biden voted for the largest tax increase in U.S. history which Senator Biden concluded was not true at all. Overall Palin constantly says she is working with "Mavericks", the debate proved Palin can give others a run for their money and she should start wearing some other outfits because i'm starting to lose interest -_-

VP DEBATE

The 2008 vice presidential debate was on friday. Palin said that Barak Obama voted to increase taxes last year. Biden said that it wasnt true that Barak voted for that. John McCain voted 477 times to raise taxes. In 2005 Barak Obama voted for an energy bill that gave the oil companies a big tax break. Palin wore an american flag pin.

Everybody Gets Extra Credit for Watching the Debate! Or atleast Palin Said So.

John McCain was mentioned about 83 times, while Barack Obama was mentioned about 41 times.

Yes, I sat there and watched the whole thing, only to miss like a minute leaving to get a soda.

Where do I begin.

Palin is hot and all, but speaks like a robot. Like Mr. McCain lost a few pounds and put on some heavy makeup and went on stage instead. I was surprised at how cofident she appeared. She kept going on and on about how she's in it for the family.

HOWEVER.

Biden reveals his tragic family history. We could see him get teary a bit, and he made a good point. Just becaus he's a man doesn't mean that he can't take care of his family.

From my notepad:
-Palin pronounced 'nuclear' a lot
-'Joe six-pack... hockey moms...'
-everybody gets exta credit for watching the debate! So says Palin...
-Biden, undisciplined; Palin, unexperienced
-Ronald Reagan is quoted a lot
-Alaska is mentioned 8 times

PS: I heard from Oh No They Didn't Politics on Livejournal that some company is making a porn movie about everyone's favorite VPILF, supposedly released prior to the election.

Just some interesting little thing I'd like to share.

Vice Presidential Debate 2008 Palin/Biden

The Vice Presitdential Debate between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden was on Thursday, October 2nd, at Washington University in St.Louis. There were many topics in the discussion and one of the topics were on domestic and foreign policy matters. Gwen Ifill was the moderator and she was a black woman. Palin was nervous in the beginning but was confident later on. Biden spoke confidently the whole time. Sometimes I wouldn't get what both of them were saying and it seemed confusing. There were questions about taxes, about Darfur, nuclear weapons, and Israel, and etc. I thought Biden had more facts in his answers than Palin. Both Biden and Palin sometimes didn't answer the question and went off to another topic. It was mostly Palin that did it the most thought. Biden's voice and tone was more aggressive and Palin sounded like a nice woman when she spoke. I think Biden is more of a strong speaker and has more experience than Palin. So I think Biden won the debate. Overall I thought the debate was great and that they like doing the debates on topics with each other.

VP Debate

This was a very exciting debate to watch. I was surprised that Governor Palin matched up with Senator Joe Biden quite well. I thought she would mess up a lot. She probably practiced and memorized her speech. However, Biden showed that he has the experience to become vice president. He was solid with his answers while Palin was trying to dodge some questions. Palin always had a smile on her face and gave the occasional wink. It shows that she is not that serious. She made me laugh a couple of times. In the end, Biden won this debate.

Vice Presidential Debate

The vice presidential debate was boring. I thought it would have been more interesting because Palin's family situation is very scandalous, but there was no question about that. They should have asked, how does she plan to help run the country if she cant even run her own home. For the 45 minutes that I watched there was no answer that was extremely outstanding. Just like the presidential debate, the nominees didnt give many straight forward answers. On another note, Biden would speak in first person, i found that wierd. The debate could have been better.

First VP Debate 2008 Palin v. Biden

The first vice president debate of 2008 occurred on October 2nd. The hostess, Gwen Ifill, opened with a general explanation of what would be discussed and how it would be executed. She wore a dashing teal jacket. As the candidates were being introduced to the crowd and each other, Governor Palin said "thank you" exactly six times. The first topic was about the passing of the bailout plan. The question was whether it was either "the best of Washington or the worth of Washington." Senator Biden started his response by criticizing President Bush, saying that the economic policies of the past eight years have been the worst the U.S. has ever had. He continued by saying that Senator Obama and himself will focus on the middle class, as that would stimulate the economy. Governor Palin then responded by saying something about how McCain has fought for putting Americans before the opinion of his colleges. Shortly after Senator, Biden stated that Senator McCain had knowingly given false information regarding the health of the economy. In Governor Palin's response, she gave a wink along with an informal tone of voice. As the debate continued, Senator Biden seemed to catch Governor Palin on rocky terrain. He mentioned that she did not answer the question given to her and that her facts about the way Senator Obama voted was inaccurate. She responded by informing everybody of her records as a governor and mayor.

10/2 Debate: Biden v. Palin

Thursday's debate was somewhat interesting. Biden was confident and well spoken, intensely looking into the moderator's eyes as he spoke. It was touching when he got choked up about raising his sons after his wife died *tear*. Palin, on the other hand, was more informal and looked directly into the camera the whole time. She used lines like "Joe six-pack" and "Say it ain't so, Joe". She was also very quick to pull the parent card by using phrases like "as a parent", and "hockey moms across the world" to drive her arguments. She did do better than I expected her to (though I wasn't expecting much). Overall, I feel that Biden is more suitable for the vice presidency, being the more experienced one who is taken more seriously.

Obama vs. McCain

The first presidential debate was held in Oxford, Mississippi between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain. The first half seemed like child's play but things heated up when foreign policy and national security was brought up. An argument over Iraq was made when Obama said McCain was wrong about the invasion and McCain answered back with Obama being incorrect with the surge. Obama said McCain and Bush ditched and forgot about Afghanistan when all attention was on Iraq. Both had different point of views when it came to negotiations with Iraq. Obama said the U.S. should be willing to talk to the leaders of Iraq. McCain, amused, replied back with a "Are you crazy?!" response. The onslaught between the two continued on when the topic got personal. McCain stated that Obama lacked the knowledge and experience to be the leader of this country. Obama did not stand down, he stated that the Bush campaign and McCain spent 8 years trying to stop the Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden, all 8 years which were failures. To me, this debate was a draw between the two. Both were at it against the each other the whole time. But both made their ideas clear about the future. I think both still have more to prove to this country.

Yeah, Palin is hot.

HOT
My mom is in awe.

This was not so bad to watch.
I really like Biden. He seemed sincere about everything he said and I don't think that he's full of crap. I like what he said about the war and Darfur and everything. He kept a serious tone and was professional.
As for Palin, she's not dumb but she spoke all "cutesy". She's not as bad as I thought, but I still wonder if she's right or deserves the job as VP. All I can say about her is that she didn't suck.
The two candidates were respectful and not dead boring.

I just wish that I knew more about the issues they were talking about. Some things that they spoke about I just couldn't understand. Mostly when they were talking about foreign leaders.

I remember that CNN had TV specials a while back on Biden andPalin. Biden's biography really showed me that he's a strong guy. His wife and baby daughter died, so he had to take care of his two sons that almost died all alone. He rode the train to D.C. (work) and came back home everyday (hella far) to be with his family. And he had like two aneurysms. Ran for president twice... I think that he's a strong guy.

I don't know much about Palin. She was a beauty queen. Her daughter's preggers. She owns a lot of land in Alaska (can anyone say oil?).

Sorry for showing favoritism...
politics are so dirty
